How many 6 or 8 a side pitches could we set up?

I reckon we could manage 3.

We could do a centenary 6 or 8 a side lacrosse tournament. shortly after the season ends and before the cricket season starts .

Invite the teams that all of our current intake are constituted from.

we could invite:-
Portsmouth
York
Canterbury
East Grinstead
Newcastle
Lancaster (Jonny)

We could open up the bar and have a barbecue..

What do people think?

Soton (bri)
Oxford (nick)
Cambridge (ben)
(Any other current teams in the league I imagine are easier to push-need to ensure we win though).

One thing we'd need to clear it with cricket as unless we could use rugby or footie pitches we may be nr the square or want lines on the pitch.

To be honest, it could even work with 1 pitch. Pretty sure bath has 5 pitches and there's 30 odd teams at that.

Don't like to boost james's ego, so i won't say it's a good idea, but it's definitely worth looking into. Sure we could think up an excuse for inviting most teams if we put our minds to it

A centenary is awesome. Let the beer flow until no man can stand.

Good idea to  do something.

I have a picture of  the Woodford team in the early 1900's . Woodford and Snaresbrook combined to form BH.

And , no bad jokes, I am not in the team!

do you think that we have enough footage of the team to do a video like this?

The oldies were talking on Saturday about the BHLC archive store. I didn't hear the word "video" mentioned, but we'll see.

If   you are thinking about a tournament , decide soon , as the calender fills up quick. Lots of clubs are getting on the bandwagon. They see Walcountians  making money  and want to  try their luck.

We have had 1st april agreed in principle. So we now need to decide how we're promoting the event, get clubs to sign up, get refs for the day. The rest can wait. Ill pull a list of who's responsible for which teams and then get it decided. Saturday may be a good opportunity to discuss.

good idea Rich.

How many pitches and how many teams do we want?

I thought that 6 or 8 teams would work well across two pitches - what do you guys think?

We could do 2 groups of teams followed by a semi and a final (depending on the weather)

If we all take responsibility for bringing one team?

what do you think of that idea?

I can flag it up with SEMLA, maybe get some junior teams involved.

Post it on the lax Forums , so others will know   soon.

I'll put some cash into it too, so I can set up a sales stand

 Make it work fella's!

My take on life is that the tournament is a priority, and that everything else is a nice to have, so we need to be making sure we get the tournament right!

I think advertise it on SEMLA, but then specifically invite 5/6 other teams.

In terms of space, we can talk about it Saturday. We need to be well aware that cricket is a big part of the club. If the weather is really bad, we could do a lot of damage to their pitch 3 weeks before the season starts. Therefore, we need to be prepared to move onto the pitch we train on if necessary. As a result not sure if we could have more than 1 pitch realistically (unless we can use the rugby pitches round the corner – not sure of the deal with them).

This is just stuff needing doing now...

"Centurions – I’ll leave Liam to organise the evening’s entertainment!"

Is he bringing his sister to the game?
